The fairytale city of Europe

Anyone that has ever heard of the town Bruges, has heard that it is the fairytale town of Europe. The cobblestone streets, horse-drawn carriages, colorful shops and the smell of chocolate and waffles that fill the air. Bruges is just that: a fairytale. Walking around this old medieval town with a waffle in hand is basically magical.

GETTING THERE:
Getting to Bruges from Brussels is insanely easy. Go to the train station (any of the three: Midi, Nord or Zuid), go to a ticket booth and click Bruges. Or you can even go up to a ticket person and ask for a round trip ticket. If you are under the age of 25, it is โ‚ฌ12 there and back, which is a pretty sweet deal. It is about an hour to an hour and a half and once you get to the main train station in Bruges, you have arrived in fairytale land and follow the scent to the nearest waffle shop!

Markt Square
After getting off at the train station, don’t bother buying a bus ticket to the center it is a short walk and the walk is picturesque. Wander your way towards the main square of the town: Markt Square. Here you’ll find the 12th century Belfry of Bruges and Provincial Court. If you go in the festive month of December, you will find decorated christmas stalls and an ice skating rink in the center. The perfect dose of Christmas to plaster a smile of your face for the rest of the day.

There isn’t much a guide one canย give for this fairytale land, the best way to explore is to let your senses lead the way. Wander through the cobble stone streets, through the alleys and indulge in massive amounts of chocolate and beer. Keep your eye peeled incase you strollย along to your Prince Charming ๐Ÿ˜‰

Do yourself a favor when you go to Bruges and walk into every single chocolatiers. Not only is it magical and you feel like you are in heaven, but sometimes the wonderful people give you free samples. Sorry for the amount of chocolate photos you are about to witness. And excuse me for a moment while I go eat some chocolate.

Bruges is also known for its adorable canals that run through the town. You can also organize a Canal Tour to see the city from a different perspective.
