Liechtenstein is the 6th smallest country in the world, located in between Switzerland and Austria and is only 25km long. Why bothering traveling to a country this small? Because, why not! It is an adorable little country, filled with friendly people and tasty treats! And plus you can say that you walked across an entire country before, bucket list item!
Liechtenstein has no airport, no train station and about three buses. Seems almost impossible to get there but there is an easy easy way from both Switzerland and Austria. We were coming from Zürich we took the early train to Sargans and from there, you fine the light green colored buses that will take you into the city center of Vaduz (tickets can be purchased from the driver onboard).
Exploring the capital city: Vaduz
It is hard to say that this is a city, if you have ever been to a city before. It is more of a town. Bu nevertheless it is adorable and when you get off the bus, make sure you stop at the tourist center and get a €2 passport stamp.
we attempted to make it our goal to walk across the whole country, which would take about 3 hours (depending on you)
take a mini hike to look at the Vaduz Castle. Stopping along the way to get a view of well basically the whole country.
Alte Rheinbrücke – the bridge connecting two countries
Before leaving to country of Liechtenstein, you have to walk to the bridge: ‘Alte Rheinbrücke’ an old wooden bridge that crosses the over the Rhine. While crossing the bridge in the very center you are standing in between the country of Liechtenstein and Switzerland…pretty cool, pretty cool!
Until next time Liechtenstein
